Joint Beamwidth and Power Optimization in MmWave Hybrid Beamforming-NOMA Systems

The use of directional transmission in millimeter-Wave (mmWave) frequencies results limited channel coherence time. In this paper, we take the time into account for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) mmWave hybrid beamforming systems. Due to time, beamwidth beamformer affects beam-training which turn directly impacts data rate. To investigate trade-off, utilize a combined algorithm. Then, formulate sum-rate expression considers and as well users' power other system parameters. Further, joint optimization problem is solved by iterating between allocation optimization. When allocating power, log-exponential reformulation sequential parametric convex approximation (SPCA) methods solve non-convex problem. Since involves too many variables, propose an algorithm iterates clusters users. Numerical show that optimized beamforming-NOMA can achieve much higher sum-rates compared NOMA with analog traditional techniques.
